Method and limits

Deterministic match to the SAAQ table. Points are entered on the driving record only after a finding of guilt is reported to the SAAQ; a fine may still apply when a bracket shows 0 points.

Frequently asked questions

What the tool can — and cannot — answer

Are points added when the ticket is issued?

No. The SAAQ says points are entered after it receives notice of a finding of guilt, including after payment of the fine or a judgment.

Does the calculator include the fine?

No. It estimates points only. Court costs, school or work zones and other consequences must be checked separately.

Can major speeding carry more points?

Yes. Major-speeding brackets begin at 6, 10 or more points depending on the limit and alleged excess speed.
