Set on Île Jésus, Laval is an unavoidable link between Montreal and the Laurentians. Transit traffic concentrates on Highway 15 (des Laurentides), Highway 440 (Jean-Noël-Lavoie) crossing the city east to west, and Highways 13, 19 and 25 leading to the bridges. Many tickets are issued to commuters merely passing through Laval at rush hour.
